The highlight of this production was Meg Laskey’s portrayal of Percy, specifically her powerful vocals. […] Morgan Parpan’s performance as Shelby was wonderful, with her clear soprano notes sounding effortless and easily blending in harmony with her castmates. Mickey Reed is a seasoned thespian, and it shows in her portrayal of Hannah. […]
The Spitfire Grill made sparks fly…
[The musicians] flawlessly blend to provide both incidental music and backup for the vocals. There were times, by the way, that I imagined I was hearing a backup vocal — it was that good.
The Spitfire Grill is an interesting and entertaining script. As director, Dombrowski has made interesting choices that enhance its quality. The actors make it easy to empathize with their characters. And the musicians and technicians seal the deal. I recommend it.
While every song is effective […] some later selections are especially touching and beautiful, and this cast has the talent to deliver them effectively. [….] This charming, original musical is proof that community theatre can produce a magic all its own.

A troubled young parolee yearning for a fresh start follows her dreams to Wisconsin, based on a page from an old travel book, only to find a small town with a gritty heart aching with longing and regret. Unexpectedly discovering the healing power of community while working at the Spitfire Grill, Percy reawakens the entire town’s capacity for rebirth, forgiveness and hope.
Set to a melodic folk-inspired score, The Spitfire Grill is a joyous celebration of human kindness and the magic of found family.
